There is more good news for fans of Southern rock band Kings of Leon, as the quartet followed their mid-March announcement of a summer amphitheater tour with news that they are recording

their fifth album, the follow-up to 2008's Only By the Night, one month later. On April 12, The Silver Tongue reported that KOL drummer Nathan Followill announced the news via Twitter,
saying, "Day 1 in the studio is official under way. I'm beaming with excitement and a hangover at the same time. [We] put down some jams that I think you all will like." The as-yet-untitled
forthcoming album has a tough act to follow, as its six million-selling predecessor awarded Kings of Leon three Grammys, including the coveted Album of the Year honor.
So what can fans expect from Kings of Leon's new album? Last August, Followill told music magazine Spin, "The new stuff is all over the place. There's stuff that sounds like Radiohead.
There's stuff that sounds like Thin Lizzy. There's stuff that sounds like the Band. We're pretty much to the point now where … [we can] try stuff we would've been scared to death to try on
the first couple of records." Rather than speculate on what the new KOL album will sound like, pick up some to hear the Tennessee-bred band perform new tracks live this summer.
Kings of Leon will kick off their summer amphitheater tour in Atlantic City on June 5 and will perform two more dates on the East Coast (in Saratoga, N.Y. and Scranton, Pa.) before heading to
Manchester, Tenn. to headline the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival on June 11. Prior to the announcement of the band's summer tour, Kings of Leon's Bonnaroo date was expected to be the band's
only North American gig in 2010. The 2010 edition of Bonnaroo will also feature performances by Jay-Z, Weezer, the Dave Matthews Band, Stevie Wonder, Regina Spektor, OK Go, Jeff Beck, Blues
Traveler, Flaming Lips, Phoenix, Avett Brothers, Baroness, Wale, Steve Martin & the Steep Canyon Rangers and many more.
After performing at Bonnaroo, the Tennessee quartet will travel to cities like San Diego, Calif.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Los Angeles, Calif.; George, Wash.; St. Louis, Mo.; Chicago, Ill.; Toronto,
Ontario; Hartford, Conn.; Bristow, Va.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Hershey, Pa.; West Palm Beach, Fla.; Birmingham, Ala. and more before wrapping up their road trip in Dallas, Texas on Sept. 23.
Although Kings of Leon have yet to reveal when their forthcoming new album will arrive, rumor has it the record will drop next fall once the band returns from touring.
Kings of Leon's upcoming North American tour dates have some U.K. dates scattered among them, such as headlining sets at V Festival across the pond at Hylands Park Chelmsford, Essex and
Weston Park, Staffordshire near Birmingham on Aug. 21 and 22, respectively. The band's U.K. dates should come as no surprise, as Kings of Leon first found fame across the Atlantic before fans
in their home country caught on to their sound! Billboard.com reported that Kings of Leon will co-headline the 15th anniversary of V Festival, which is sponsored by Virgin Media, with U.K.
rock act Kasabian. Faithless, Stereophonics, the Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys, Cheryl Cole, the Kooks, Paolo Nutini, Florence and the Machine, Paul Weller and David Guetta will also perform.
